Disposable music for a disposable culture... In truth I hope you like it.
Band/artist history
I knew Tim (guitar, vocals) and Luke (our drummer) for my entire life. I would move around a lot all the way to adulthood and ended moving back to my hometown three separate times. People came and went but these guys remained a nice reliable constant. Luke's dad turned their attic into a soundproof room because his drums were probably driving them crazy. Tim's dad built a soundproof room in their family's backyard and that became our favorite hangout spot. It was a place of few rules away from adult supervision. Tim liked the name Normal Heights because it was the name of a town in our home city that was a cool spot (also where a methadone clinic was). Plus he always wanted to reach some normal heights. So we jammed a lot the final few years of high school. At first it was all power chords and fast rock stuff. Tim eventually got more into minimalist style and Spacemen Three type stuff.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I've played for small groups of people. Got out of control on one, and only one, occasion; resulting in minor injuries including (but not limited to): unseen Cuts and scars, geysers of blood, temporary blindness, slobbering insanity, sprained ankles, etc...
Your musical influences
I love many styles of music...really too many to name. You can expect a heavy classic rock, punk, folk, blues, jazz, electronic, metal, grindcore, dreamy, dark, cathartic, uplifting, and experimental element. Pretty much anything we discover while learning how to use our new sampler and music software. I don't want to rely completely on computers to make music, and I love the sound of unplugged music too much anyway... hopefully you can feel it like we do.
What equipment do you use?
Les Paul Custom, Crate Stack, Tascam 8-track digital recorder with a 1GB storage chip, Old (40 years) ass Yamaha classical guitar, computer with reason 3.0 (just got it), any random instrument I come across like an old banjo or violin.
Anything else?
This is going to be a mix of old stuff. None of it is overproduced (took a class at college in music production but I'm an amateur anyway); they are like rough sketches, and pretty much is all done in one take and mostly improvised.
