The Tell Bar is Shawn's second release containing short, hook driven alternative rock songs filled with universal themes, inspired stories, and tragic events such as the title track, The Tell Bar, which is in memory of the Jonestown Massacre. The lyrics takes one back to the times where what was being said was an important facet of the song and Shawn does not disappoint with great lyrics throughout the album including, "The truth's a mirror of your will, distorted as a fisherman's tale" -Stratosphere and "I can arm myself with a gun or a mind, they both tend to get the headlines" -Timeless in the Black.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Shawn started his music career under neon lights in the basement of a hospital. a music therapist recorded Shawn's first song called Innocent Death. While visiting his mother who was in end stage cancer, Bryan a music therapist came to see the family and asked what artist did the patient listen to. They had answered Bob Dylan, as Shawn's mom was his biggest fan. When he played "Blowing in the Wind", Shawn's mom in a coma, began to sing along. It was this defining moment that propelled Shawn to become a music teacher at a Yamaha school, play in many local bands and finally become a songwriter.
After finishing his 1st demo Shawn brought his songs to a studio, hired some great session players including Michael Fonfara of Lou Reed, and recorded his 1st full length CD entitled 11:11. Around the Corner, the 1st single broke the top 80 on garageband and made the top ten on IUMA.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Have been recording albums for the past couple of years and am looking forward to hitting the stage again soon.
Your musical influences
Zeppelin has to be my biggest influence, all the great music they created is inspiring. Pearl Jam would be my 2nd influence. It wasn't so much about what you can do on a guitar but how it sounded and i think eddie spoke to a generation.
