Band/artist history
Marco Leclair Vocals Casey Clowater Guitar Paul Davidson Bass Mike Ashton Drums What began in a small Northern Ontario town is now a big city musical endeavor. Initially meeting in the small town of Espanola, ON in 1994 through a mutual friend organizing a weekend trip to attend an outdoor Metallica concert, the members of Haddonfield came together. Unknowingly sharing the same musical interests, ideas and ambitions, this is what would soon be the formula to create an unstoppable band. In 1998 the melodic and heavy sounds of Haddonfield were born with Mike Ashton on drums, Casey Clowater on guitar, Marc Leclair on vocals and Paul Davidson, the most recent member, on bass. The band began learning and playing cover songs at the local strip club with a constantly rotating line of friends filling in on bass. Immediately tired of playing other peoples songs and living in a small town, Haddonfield ended their boredom by finally deciding on writing their own anthems and moving to a city that offered more opportunity. Soon after their start Haddonfield began touring the northern Ontario music scene impressing crowds wherever they played; aspiring to be one of the arena rock bands they had always dreamed of being while growing up. With hopes of having a full time music career Haddonfield moved to a live-in rehearsal studio in Toronto where they are now based. At this point Paul had entered the group and added the final element to a band that’s still constantly refining its songs and sound. They began introducing the southern Ontario music scene to a different genre of rock by booking and promoting their own shows with well established local and touring acts. The band developed their sound citing very diverse musical influences that some music scenes may consider taboo. From New Kids on the Block, Portishead, Pearl Jam and Incubus to Deftones, Pantera and Unearth, Haddonfield draws from a never-ending range of acts to create a new totally new sound. Haddonfield’s uplifting, straight-forward and innovative music earned the respect of promoters and they soon found themselves sharing the same stage with such esteemed as: Alexisonfire (Equal Vision Records), Silverstein (Victory Records) and Between the Buried and Me (Victory Records). The band also garnered a spot on the 2003 Vans Warped tour after entering the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands against 2600 other acts. Starting in Barrie ON, the band then continued on following the tour playing dates in Buffalo, Philadelphia and New York; simply by selling enough cd’s and T-shirts each day to muster up the gas money to make it to the next city. Selling out of the first pressing of their newly released 3 song e.p. in less than a week and being listed on OntarioPunk.com’s compilation “Seeing Stars”, Haddonfield still continues to make a positive and lasting impact on their fans. They’re ready to jump back in their van and tour across the United States and Canada as soon as possible.
