GYFT
These girls have something more to them than the eyes can see! The lovely ladies of GYFT have arrived with a refreshed album and lovely look to accompany it! But just what can you expect from these young vixens? If you ask GYFT, ladies Sherelle McCoy, Demetria Jones, Tenicia Johnson, and Racheal Mixon, answers will surely vary. But something purely evident is "a unique blend of vocalization" that characterizes the groups essence. Executive produced by Cassandra Flemming, and Kevin "Kev-Kev/Kandyman" Jenkins (of Younique), and featuring a combination of songs ranging from love-tails gone wrong, to a declarations of divine happiness with a significant other, the debut album "Heavenly GYFT" is versatile, lyrically on point, and a strong first attempt made by the group; exactly what GYFT had in mind when they went in the studio.
GYFT's vocal range and delicate balance as a group were first showcased on their debut single, "Silly Games". The track's unbelievably catchy hook and melodic beat were infectious. It even sparked radio attention, and opened the door to various performance opportunities.
With the hit single "Silly Games" under their belt, GYFT previously released "Heavenly GYFT" in May of 2002, but were unable to promote it properly due to their conflicting scheduals. In addition, the girls all felt that their album could be improved with more time in the studio, so . . .
The group returned to the studio in the Fall 0f 2002, and are now ready to display their maturity in the re-packaged "Heavenly GYFT" album. The new album includes four brand new tracks, and guest appearances from Double C'$, Younique, and new male R&B artist William Boyd.
The album's current single, "Dance With Me" is a sultry club-banger about nothing other than having a good time on the dance floor. The group's growth is immediately evident in the harmony of their voices, especially in the breakdown vamp, where each girl ad-libs the words "Come on baby dance with me" in her own unique way. Other notable tracks on the album include the heavy latin-infused "Can't Tell You" , the disco-feeling "Insane", and the extremely emotional title track "Heavenly GYFT".
The group is more than satisfied with the refreshed album. Aside from writing on the album, they also participated in much of the vocal production, as well as developing the guest appearance line-up. But are you ready to indulge in this sonic masterpiece? Take a listen to the album and you make your decision!Band/artist history
The group consists of 4 main members and 2 producers/managers. This group started because Sherelle McCoy, who is a member of GYFT, who wanted to form a group because of an activity we have at our school called Mini-Term. In reality, work began before Mini- Term. The experiences that have occured during Mini- Term will not be forgotten. We have gained personal and group growth. Sherelle initially planned to do an album by herself, but later changed her mind and decided to start a group. The next member to be invited to the group was Demetria . . .U got me growing impatient anxiously waiting and hating on your man cause he's next TA u and he's sexing u but sooner or later imma get da best of u and that's the rest of u lol check out "SNAKE CHARMER" its coming to a club near uyo tracks dem is hot still.. yo take in my thangs lemmie kno wa u thank... me and my boy critckal on a tuff tip.
