JOIN THE MAILING LIST FOR GIG UPDATES, LYRIC POETRY, QUOTES,PHILOSOPHY,METAPHYSICS, ASIAN CULTURE,OTHER WRITINGS. A Quote From Nietsche The... European..., all in all --definitely requires a costume: he needs history as his storeroom for costumes. He realises, to be sure, that none of them fits him properly --he changes and changes. Consider the nineteenth century with regard to these rapid predilections and changes in style-masquerade; notice too the movements of despair because 'nothing suits' us-. It is in vain we parade ourselves as romantic or classical or Christian or Florentine or baraque or 'national', in moribus et artibus: the 'cap doesn't fit'! But the 'spirit', especially the 'historical spirit', perceives an advantage even in this despair: again and again another piece of the past and of foreigness is tried out, tried on, taken off, packed away, above all studied --we are the first studious age of in puncto of 'costumes', I mean those of morality, articles of faith, artistic tastes, prepared as no other age has for the grand carnival in style, for the most spiritual Shrovetide laughter and wild spirits, for the transcendental heights of the most absolute nonsense and Aristophanic universal mockery. Perhaps it is precisely here that we are discovering the ream of our invention, that realm where we too can still be original, perhaps as parodists of world history and God's buffoons--perhaps, even if nothing else today has a future, precisely our laughter may still have a future!
Your musical influences
I've been influenced by one UK artist in particular: Mr Hectic, he helped me to articulate what approach or what angle to take doing my form of hip hop both musically and lyrically, a few years ago when I was just starting out, by just playing me his very unique lyrics and beats. His stuff impacted me alot really. He set the foundation for my style though my stuff is quite different, its just the whole being true to yourself thing that I learnt from him really. Nitin Swahney is inspiring cause he fuses genres very skillfully, making something fresh. Hip hop by its nature is open to other genres and fuses genres too. So the two arent all that different potentially. Scorsayzee is great, consistently good and lyrically accessible and universal in some way. Hes a poet! I like some of the local artists too: Lazarus Black, Spectre, Fnik. Ty is great.
Anything else?
Quotes from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley I feel my heart glow with enthusiasm which elevates me to Heaven; for nothing contributes to tranquilise the mind as a steady purpose-a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye. This expedition has been my favourite dream of my early years. p.16 I have often attributed my attachment to, my passionate enthusiasm for, the dangerous mysteries of the ocean, there is a love of the marvellous, a belief in the marvellous, intertwined in all my projects, which hurries me out of the common pathways of men, even to the wild sea and unvisited regions I am about to explore. p.22 Prepare to hear of occurences which are usually deemed marvellous. Were we among the tamer scenes of nature, I might fear to encounter your unbelief, perhaps your ridicule; but many things will appear possible in these wild and mysterious regions, wich would provoke the laughter of those unacquainted with the ever-varied powers of nature,- nor can I doubt but that my tale conveys in its series internal evidence of the truth of the events of which it is composed. p.31 The world to me was a secret which I desired to divine. Curiosity, earnest research to learn the hidden laws of nature, gladness akin to rapture, as they were unfolded to me p.38 It was the secrets of heaven and earth that I desired to learn; and whether it was the outward substance of things, or the the inner spirit of nature and the mysterious soul of man that occupied me, still my enquiries were directed to metaphysical, or in its highest sense, the physical secrets of the world. p.39
