Grimlock (Belgium)
Grimlock tries to bring up a broad aspect inside the Metal-genre. Try to make the most unlogic combinations possible. That's why the idea came up to use some Post-Rock elements within our style. We think (at least I do) the four most used (sub)genres are Death-Metal, Thrash-Metal, Metal(and Hard)-Core and Post-Rock... So when these elements are combined, I guess that's the best way to describe our style.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
2008, some members from a lost-band tried to do something new, and get something new going on. After two shows Daav (vocals) left the band already, feeling the band wasn't doing anything "new" enough. Sepp (guitars) took the vocals for the future shows.
After a few songs Grimlock gets contacted by Dave to do the vocals at september 2008. Everything went well... and at 2009 Grimlock did a cute serie of gigs until may/june, when the band decided to part ways with Vinny (bass). And Stijn replaced him...
But in november, 2009 Stijn couldn't manage any spare time anymore to do so. That same period Jorrit came to join the band to do some extra guitarlines. Jorrit and Sepp shared a past-time story within' another band that saw it's end in the beginning of 2008.
... as usual, the members of Grimlock joined a coverproject, organised by our favorite bar... Grimlock didn't had a bassplayer, but decided to join the project anyway. Dave had to many projects to sing with, so we asked Tim do sing for us during the cover-session. This went so great and Grimlock contacted Tim to join the project as a second front-guy. This also got the attention of a bassist within the crowd, Jesse... a friend of Jef (drums) and took the job as a bass-player from then on.
Dave couldn't stand the idea to share his front-position with another singer and due to lack of time and rather being with other projects made him decide to leave to band.
Ever since... grimlock recorded their first album... did a lot of new shows... and is about ready to take a chance to dominate the world.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, we do play live... we had a great "first year" this year (with the all-new line-up). Our most special moment was our own release-part.... And other special moments are about making friends with the other bands playing along with us.
