Great Beyond
A four piece, guitar driven band, travelling through sublime, twisted musical corridors.
A musical voyage over waters sometimes heavy and churning, other times calm and smooth. In the end you’ll arrive safely back where you started, perhaps ready to plan your next musical odyssey.
Live, the band’s heavy tunes are meaner and their moodier stuff more sinister and mysterious.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
A journey - A piece of the puzzle - A clearing at the end of a long, treacherous path - A four piece guitar driven band out of the Niagara Region that will rock you hard at one moment and the next, send you sliding down more sublime and twisted musical corridors.
When asked to describe their sound, the boys from Great Beyond arrive at a general consensus, "we sound like us", however, we fit in a play list with Creed, Godsmack, Collective Soul and other active rock influenced bands, quips drummer Ted Dexter. We like to talk to people who come out to our show and get their opinion on our set, and it seems "everyone gets their own vibe". Nobody says we sound like anyone in particular and that's a beautiful thing! Our songs have four personalities and influence all over them, from Pink Floyd - Metallica. There is this mysterious tie that binds it all together into something bigger than each of us individually "a band sound all our own".
And so it is..... One spin of the new self titled CD from Blue Summit Recording artist's Great Beyond will reveal the unique and interesting chemistry of this band. They are in your face with songs like "Closet" and "In your room" and will then have you floating along with the hipno-groove instrumental "Crackerhead". By the time you hear the haunting last notes of "Vera", you feel like you have been on a strange musical voyage over waters sometimes heavy and churning and other times calm and smooth. In the end you arrive safely at home, perhaps already planning your next trip.....
Live, the bands heavy tunes get meaner and their moodier stuff gets more sinister and mysterious. When asked what fans can expect from the live show, lead singer/guitarist Rick Legacy replies; "We will take them for a walk in the park, show them the sights and then bring them back to a place they can call their own". When we are finished we want people to say ""Great Beyond"" is our band!!!!!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
