Graphic Recliner
Graphic Recliner is, at it's core, five people. , , , Bruce Beaton and Jennifer Fletcher. Others join us from time to time - Susan Murphy, Hans Janowitc to name a few.
We do not write songs in the traditional sense. We tend to plug in, sound check and record whatever comes out. Some times beauty, some times sound tracks for horror movies.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Graphic Recliner kind of started when Sue met Dave climbing the hill to Mt. Tabor en route to what was then a semi regular drum jam with a little red wagon full of the kalimbas that Dave builds.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Now and again. Some live shows in the past ranged from furniture stores to grimy theaters and the occasional street busk.
Your musical influences
Brian Eno and Harry Partch have been used to decribe us.
What equipment do you use?
Mackie Tracktion, kalimbas, guitars, drums, flutes, keyboards, chongs, violimbas, digeridoos etc.
Anything else?
Most of the obscure instruments we use are built by Dave and can be checked out on his web site
Great place to see some of the best electric kalimbas made on earth
