Grandpa Kake
My music is like a rock rolling down a hill of glass during a sunset on the moon. My poetry is like a voluntary hobo well versed in philosophical literature. My writing is like my thoughts trapped in a box and everyone thinks the box is so beautiful. I'm passionate about everything. I'm sensitive, but resilient through the art of logic. Someday I will impress myself. I'm abstract, eccentric, cynical, lighthearted, free spirited, idealistic, intelligent, insightful, hardcore, and ready to go. I'm brave to a fault, and proud to be alive. I'm over expressive, and I rant and rave. I've been what you never knew existed, and I am what you may never understand.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
My first guitar lessons were in exchange for mowing a couple acres with a push mower in the sun. One lesson for every time I mowed the lawn. My father gave me a guitar but I gave it to my brother. I got a guitar in the marine corps but I gave it to my brother. I bought a couple guitars but one died in the epic failing of my one dealing true love. I have only the crying fox left, an old acoustic guitar that goes out of tune and sounds rough; but it's a friend like no other. I'm just me and an old guitar. I'm trying to grow to more than that, but we'll see.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I'm in Lambuth University right now studying music performance and EMI. I've had a couple open mics through the school. I love it more than sex. The first time I played was in a starbucks in Stroudsburg PA. My friends came to watch and gave me some real genuine compliments. I almost passed out during the verse of the first song of the night.
Your musical influences
Jack white taught me to play guitar, conor oberst/isaac brock/jeff mangum/scott stapp taught me to write lyrics, lane stayley taught me to sing, and my mother taught me to be me.
What equipment do you use?
an old acoustic guitar, and pro tools through the EMI studio at Lambuth University.
Anything else?
I am just someone who has been through a huge amount of life in a short amount of time, and I've decided to share it with you. Listen up, you might learn something.
