Gorthaurs Wrath

Croatian black-death band.

The bend began to discover the beauty of hellish desire at the beginning of the year 666+666+666. First line up consisted of Morbid - vocal, Leviathan - guitar and Insanus - drums. After few rehearsals Dirgloch joins the band on guitar and Leviathan started to play bass, but not for a long time, he's back on guitar and we played for some time without bass. Our first attempts wasn't to be some original and most appreciated band in the World. We just wanted to play brutal, fast and certain primitive black metal as you can hear on our first demo "Ancient Darkness". After almost two years of searching for fifth person L.P. joins the band as it's bass player. Our firs live act was on Ri-rock '98, that was only after few rehearsals and it was very brutal show, but that was just a first gig and it couldn't be good no matter how much we tried. Sameyear concert in Opatija (Hobbiton) and than almost two years of nothing. Insanus had to go in the army for 10 months and after his return Gorthaur's Wrath gathered once again and started from the beginning, but now with some concrete plans. In the middle of 2000 we recorded our first demo "Ancient Darkness". This demo is permeated with feelings of black metal from the age '93-'95. mainly because we didn't invest any money in it, and recorded it in one day. We played on the Ri-rock '00 and won the first place. That was real scandal for our town 'cos how is possible that on something which is called Ri-rock wins some metal and not just metal but black metal band. After that we had few concerts in other towns in Croatia (Pula, Rovinj, Buzet...) and Slovenia (Skofja Loka) together with Castrum and Manifest. In march '01 we started recordings of our second demo "Unleash Hell", featuring nine songs of pure hate and one secret song remix of our old song. This demo was completely recorded in our rehearsal room and considering that the sound is not so bad. With this material we were invited to be foreband on the Behemoth's concert in Zagreb 18. 10. '01 together with Khold and Carpathian Forest. We played on second anniversary of "Ultrazvuk" called "Ultranight of the living Death" 25. 01. '02. together with Necrosphere, Unholy Inquisition and Treatment. We appeared in Zagreb for the second time in 09. 02. '02 together with Deaf Auditorium. Later 26. 03. '02. we play one concert in Italy (Trieste). Until august '02 we were preparing our new material and on 06.08. '02 we stepped in studio and record first notes of our third coming demo "Paroxysms of Madness". We didn't spare pains on this and result is our satisfaction. First promotion was in "Kula" 04. 09. and it was really good for us and for audience, that was also leaving concert for Dirgloch who deside to devote oneself to his other bands. In october 2002 we found new guitarist in Lanzarot of Death of Folk. Few days later L.P. left the band becouse of some disagreements and his replacement was Pasten from italian band Exterminhate. This is the present line up. 11. 01. '03. we finished work on our first video clip for song "Shadow Mirrors".
