Janet told me tonite that this existed. I may've met the band when I stayed over at the Berkel's one weekend when I went to Holland to visit Gordon, my cousin's brother in law. Had a magical time with him and some of his friends. Too long ago to remember, though I may have it in my journal, I hope. I really Really like the Bagel Song on this site.
Caroylyn, We also went to see Frank Zappa together once. I really like the Bagel Song as well. This is my memory of the morning Gordon wrote it: In the morning we gathered downstairs and made coffee, eggs, bacon, and oddly bagels instead of the normal toast, along with orange juice. Gordon got up from the dining room table and went over to the piano and created the Bagel Song all at once. He preferred to write songs on the piano. He played and sang it pretty much as a whole. He then spent the morning scoring the song on the piano. When he was done, he threw the score in the piano bench along with all his other scored songs not to be looked at again. I truly think that scoring music was his way of burning the song into his memory so he wouldn't forget. It was his memorization technique. Once the piece was scored and solidly in his memory he never deviated or improvised his work from the score. All the best
