Gods of Nothing

The Gods of Nothing have very much been influenced by a lifetime of music appreciation on the part of the band members. Mark Rawstron formerly resided in Palmerston North where he was in a band called Mailbox Skipole as the lead singer and bass player. Mark is influenced by a multitude of artists usually those he is listening to at the time which at the moment includes The Datsuns, The Darkness, Greenday, Good Charlotte, Hoobastank, Jet and Incubus (just to mention a few). Mark loves retro Rock and really struts his stuff on stage.Mark writes songs about life experiences which makes them more powerful to listen to because they are real to him and he really knows how to captivate an audience with crazy stage Rock antics. A good amount of insanity there was once said by the Greenman from the rock, describing the G.O.N at a Battle of The Bands contest, where they reached the regional finals in Auckland 2004.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The Gods of Nothing are an Auckland based originals rock band. The band is a three piece consisting of Mark Rawstron on guitar and lead vocals, Glen Coulter on drums and Jisung Park on bass guitar. The G.O.N. have impressed audiences with catchy songs and a captivating live rock act combining classic and alternative rock styles. Think the Datsuns and the Darkness crossed with Green Day. Rawstron and Coulter are cousins and have been jamming and writing songs since early 2002. Park joined Rawstron and Coulter in Sep 2003 and the Gods of Nothing was formed. All members have played in groups previous to the G.O.N. They are also sound engineers, along with Michelle Klaessens (the machine according to Mark) at the Rock Factory rehearsal and recording space. The band often rehearses and records at this facility, The Rock Factory producing high quality recordings and the G.O.N as always providing great energising Rock. Quote from Mark: If Im not playing music, Id rather be Surfing!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, in various places around Auckland. Everytime is a special moment!
