My name is Glen Thomas and I'm basically an all round musician. I've been playing drums in my own band called Flat Stanley for 10 years and bass in a number of bands but I love writing songs in general for myself. I also play guitar, keyboards and sing although not very well :-). I write for fun and love the feeling I get when a song is created and that's about it. I look at writing songs as a diary of my life. Nothing more, nothing less. If people like my material great, if not, it doesn't bother me. When I write it's normally to capture an emotion or event that has happened in my life. In years to come I can look back on my material and relate to how I felt at the moment I wrote it. Sounds goofy I guess, but it's enjoyable.
Way too much to list.. but to name a few bands I've played in and enjoyed are:
Wishbone, Huckster, Flat Stanley, The Crank Shop, Rainhorses, Spy vs Spy
and a ton of others.
I've been playing live since 1977 and have played in both Canada and the U.S.A. Do I like it? Big time!! I eat and breathe music. I've had lots of special moments but I think the best was seeing a band I played with called Rainhorses get it's first article in the newspaper for the release of a CD called August Mask and then hearing your songs on the radio.. Nothing beats that. In recent years I've recorded albums with the bands Wishbone, Huckster and Pat Stewart to name a few.
My influences come from all over the place. I love jazz music from Tommy Dorsey to Buddy Rich to Dave Weckl along with all decades of rock, blues and country music. My all time favourite bands are The Beatles, King's X, Porcupine Tree, Moke, Chick Corea, Charlie Hunter Trio, Average White Band, Big Sugar and a host of others.
I have numerous musical instruments but a few are Yamaha drums, Gretsch drums, along with a custom built Ghekko drumset. Guitars are, G&L, Fender along with Fender amps. Bass wise I use Spector with a GK head and SWR cab.
I hope you enjoy my tunes but if not, throwing up IS an option.. :-)
