Glenn Hardy
motor 1 motor 1
This is a motor piece for piano which I think of as being loosely derived from the old toccata form. Seven minutes plus of high-energy 32nd notes recorded live in a large chapel.
paroxysm paroxysm
...an outburst in which I attempt to shake off the quiet, staid atmosphere of the chapel in which it was recorded. The piano fallboard was loose and I accidently hit it, and ended up doing it deliberately during the piece.
motor 2 motor 2
another motor piece...my version of a toccata. I was waiting for piano students at a private school where I teach, and I set up my mini disc recorder for this energy improv.
hommage melancolique hommage melancolique
This is my tribute to the French impressionist composers I used to play. Some Debussy, mostly Ravel.
Pontchartrain Boogie Pontchartrain Boogie
a boogie blues inspired by the New Orleans piano players Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Fats Domino, and especially, James Booker.
Ofay Blues Ofay Blues
Screamin' Boogie Screamin' Boogie
Glenn's Mystical Boogie Glenn's Mystical Boogie
Kaleidoscope Kaleidoscope
a high energy improvisation which was inspired by a Kansas City style boogie-woogie I had just recorded a few minutes before.
Red Sky Red Sky
another improv from the blues and boogie session. Pop elements in evidence.
Motormotion Motormotion
A motor piece with a different concept. Improvised and recorded live in the studio.
Confluence Confluence
a gentle improvisation for piano, which I transcribed, and is available in sheet music form.
Lamentation (for my country) Lamentation (for my country)
