Girls 'r Evil is a studio project comprised of multi-instrumentalist Derek Ho and vocalist/guitarist Scott Shenk. The music could be classified as modern/alternative power-pop, but goes much deeper. The songs are melodic and infectious, based on strong songwriting using complex chords and arrangements, often with some sort of sonic surprise thrown in.Band/artist history
Girls ‘r Evil evolved out of the realization of vocalist/guitarist Scott Shenk and multi-instrumentalist Derek Ho, that they shared a penchant for creating infectious and melodic modern rock based on strong songwriting and unorthodox chords. Derek and Scott met in the early nineties playing separately and together in the most musical alternative bands during original rock music’s last stand in Honolulu, including Elizabeth Hortonsphere, Armenian Radio, and Dogpilot. However, the change of the Hawaii alternative music scene at the close of the 90’s saw Derek playing the Waikiki circuit in cover bands and Scott playing solo gigs at coffee shops and raising a family.
The turn of the century brought some urgency for Derek and Scott to finally record a proper CD in the studio. Relying on solid songwriting fundamentals and the ability to create, play and improvise eclectic parts on the fly, Derek and Scott quickly amassed a solid collection of material. More often than not, entire songs were recorded in one sitting within a 2 to 6 hour span. A much more lenghty process, editing, mixing and mastering were handled by Derek's constantly maturing ability to produce music at a professional level. There are currently four Girls ‘r Evil CD’s, representing a small sample of the hundreds of tunes Scott and Derek have written over the years.Your musical influences
The music of Girls ‘r Evil is an exciting roller-coaster ride (cliché) maybe more likened to the plot of an engrossing suspense film, with gentle harmonies and subtle hooks sharing the stage with grinding in-your-face riffs and bold, dissonant textures. However, the eclectic music always returns to that familiar place with a musical quality that links even the most disparate pieces together. The weaving and intertwining of musical and vocal melodies and harmonies is the trademark of Derek and Scott's songwriting. However, that does not mean it’s always pretty, as the band would rather lull you closer with kind words, then hit you over the head with a hammer of sound. What equipment do you use?

Hello Girls R' Evil! Someone told me to check out you guys and I'm glad I did! Currently listening to 'Sea of Immortality' and I'm very impressed, the song has a very powerful sound. It's also very tight and well produced. Lead singer has an awesome voice, very radio friendly stuff- fantastic all round. Best of luck! It would be great if you had the time to check out our song 'Your life', it's our first single here on SC, all the very best from Tam & the Giants
