ghostwritertheband
Ghostwriter is a Brooklyn, NY based instrumental band fusing sounds from bands like tortoise, papa m and mogwai with more improvisational and experimental music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
ghostwriter began through the infamous craigslist. bill and cory, on bass and guitar repsectively, began playing and writing material together over a year ago. after running through several drummers, they finally settled on kevin, who had responded to a craigslist posting from cory. it took a while for the group to settle in and start to develop its identity. while the band is still definitely "young" they are developing a nice following and their style continues to become more solid while still incorporating more range.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
we love playing at the knit. our very first gig was at a pig roast benefit out in new jersey. we played for a bunch of plumber/electrician types and their families after a late thirty-something grateful dead cover band opened up for us. while it did little to advance our music, we had a really great time playing out in the bar parking lot.
Your musical influences
tortoise, papa m, grateful dead, mogwai, ween, flaming lips, medeski
What equipment do you use?
line 6 looper, moog rogue, omnichord, bob moog phaser and envelope filter
Anything else?
loops, moogs, omnichord, straight ahead, spaced out, tight and intricate playing, total-free-for- alls, we're wanting to take prog-post-rock through uncharted territory.
