Georgie X

We are a 3 piece alternative grunge band and have been going over two years. Our main influences are Nirvana, The Pixies, The Eels and Presidents Of The United States Of America. The band members all have a very wide and different musical taste which gives us our own unique and original sound.

After going around in various conceptions such as Disgraced Pigeons, Dirty Turtles and The Remnants, we finally settled on Georgie X.........

After starting out as a four piece doing indie rock and punk covers and generally scraping by we finally found our footing after the sad loss of Alex Firth. We gradually evolved into the three piece alt. rock band we are today. After having recording time in a small shed we realised we needed to have total commitment from all members, unfortunately this wasn't possible whilst we were in the presence of Matt Green......

That is when Mike entered the equation and thus stands the current and hopefully, final line-up. After practicing more in the first two weeks than we did in the previous year our songs quickley transformed from thrashy fuck abouts into the slightly more serious side of alt. rock. This means that we now have the confidence and the belief to put our tracks onto a cd and generally tout ourselves round the local music scene.

Yes we play live, playing live is what its all about for us, we love it. We play anywhere we can really. I guess the only special moment is when we supported punk legends 'The Vibrators', we didnt fit with the genre very well but it was still good to know we have just played with a famous band!

We all like very different music but due to all the songs being written by Gilbert, influences range from......

Pixies, Eels, Big Black, Frank Black, Nirvana, P.O.T.U.S.O.A, Hit For Six, DIP to the slightly more contempoary bands such as Thrice, Finch, Boy Sets Fire, Give Up The Ghost and Planes Mistaken For Stars. The band influences are above somewhere!

Pretty basic really! A guitar head and cab, a bass amp and a 4 piece drum kit with 4 cymbals sums it up! No fancy effects pedals or anything like that, thats probably because were all poor though!
