Hijole, pinche gringos! Currently residing in El Centro, CA near the US/Mex border, I've been producing professionally for about 3 years now. As a former trance DJ turned deep/tech-house/prog maniac after buying Global Underground 6, I've been involved in all aspects of the EDM scene for well over 10 years. Currently I'm using Sonar 6 Producer Edition for production, and Traktor Studio 3 & Ableton Live 6 for live performances with Nocha Music Group. Also currently working for 365Mag as a "global editor" (their fancy way of saying I review new tracks & albums)...if you have any new stuff you'd like us to take a gander at, send them in to: reviews@365mag.com Leave comments, tell your friends, and send me some fvckin tamales, bitch!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Currently on the roster with Nocha Music Group which is a collective of DJ's & live acts from the San Diego/El Centro/Mexicali/Tijuana region. (Check em out at myspace.com/nochamusic)
Your musical influences
Anything from the Global Underground label, Yunus Guvenen, James Holden, 16 Bit Lolitas, Nick Sneddon, Pat Metheny Group, The Young Gods, David Holmes, Freaky Chakra, The Cranberries, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, James Talk, Smashing Pumpkins, RATM, KoRn, Mico, Airto Morera, Fourth World, Fischerspooner, Scumfrog, John Digweed, Dave Seaman...the list could go on.
What equipment do you use?
For production I use Sonar 6 Producer Edition, an Alesis QS 8.2 synth, a Behringer MX-9000 mixing board, and a few bits & bobs of software. My live setup includes my Dell Inspiron e1505 with Traktor Studio 3 and Ableton Live 6 (hopefully an M-Audio Trigger Finger sometime soon, too).
Anything else?
Considering the varied types of music I've been listening to since I was 2, it's no surprise that much of my music is an combination of everything from electro, latin, jazz, experimental, rock & swing. It's difficult to say what exactly turned me on to music in the first place, but it's most likely the fact that I've simply been exposed to music on such a consistent basis that made me want to get into recording & production.
