Genesta

Kickass, good-time rock band from the San Fernando valley. Female vocals and a rockin' rhythm section give this band a No Doubt/Evanescence/Queens of the Stone Age/Metallica feel.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Genesta was started out as an idea in the heads of Rachel Nicole and Bryan Archer. They found their first bassist, David, with an add at a local guitar center. On a camping trip to Yosemite, the tapping of drumsticks drew their attention to a drummer named Stu Gregson. After a little bit of friendly conversation, it was found that Stu lived in Woodland Hills, which was only about 20 minutes from Rachel's Encino home. Stu was asked to join the band and gave an enthusiastic "yes". Two weeks later, rehearsals began with a full band. An aspiring independent film director and good friend of Rachel's, Aaron Schoenke, offerred to put a Genesta song in his new Batman Beyond-based film. Money was hastily scraped up and the young quartet was soon in a pro-studio record their hit single "Release"(in our own heads it's a hit). More info on the movie (which is a very groovy little ditty indeed) can be found at http://www.BatintheSun.com David soon decided that bass wasn't his forte and was replaced by the current, funkadelic bass-man, Kyle Woodhouse. Stu became flooded with extra-curricular activities (other than Genesta) and soon put in his resignation as the drummer. Jon Madrid, a friend of Bryan's, kindly stood (sat, drummed, whatever) in for a month as the band prepared for it's first public appearance at (drumroll please) a Birthday Party!!! The gig was awesome, and Jon was thanked, as a new drummer, Ryan Litpon (also known as Rat-Tat Ryan, because of his light, jazzy style), stepped into the picture. As an aspiring percussion major, Rat-Tat added a great deal of style to the band through his progressive jazz style of drumming. The rest is yet to come... In Memory of Nick McPhereson, who passed away of brain cancer on August 21st 2003...
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Genesta plays local clubs in the L.A. area, including the Cobalt Cafe, the Whisky, and the Knitting Factory...
