Your musical influences
I love the deep theological focus expressed by the Cross Movement Records, Lamp Mode Recordings, Fla.vor Alliance and Reach Records label mates and their various associate artists. Their production is always above par their song concepts, album concepts, and Christocentric subject matter showed me Jesus through the lens of Hip-Hop. Pettidee and his unique production values that remind me of our mutual homestate Florida: Thumping, driving, uptempo bass. What equipment do you use?
For playing: HammerHead Rhythm Station (TR909 style drum machine program) and HotStepper (drum machine program with a built-in sequencer and effects).
Also I use an M-Audio Oxygen8 v2 MIDI controller/keyboard and a Zoom StreetBoxx SB-246 aka "Beat Kangs" drum machine.
For recordiing: Audacity for recording vocals, samples (like from HammerHead and Hotstepper) and analog sources (like my SB-246 from Zoom). Then Linux Multimedia Studio for MIDI-equipped playing, sequencing, effect enhancement and pre-mixing. Then Audacity again for final mixing and mastering and conversion to MP3.
HammerHead Rhythm Station, HotStepper, Audacity, and Linux MultiMedia Studio (LMMS) cost nothing but give you a studio-in-a-box good enough for loop-based production (such as a Hip-Hop).Anything else?
If your local church community has a problem with Hip-Hop being used for the LORD remember this New Testament verse in Colossians 3:16 (New King James Version)
3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
