We combine primitive sound making techniques with new technology to create an indeterminate listening space without forcing an interpretation on the listener. If you like artists in the experimental, ambient, psychadelic, free-folk, and drone genres, then you might like Gavagai as well.
Band/artist history
In the fall of 2001 we did our first recordings straight to tape in Jesse's adobe, economy apartment with various sound making devices around us. We later mastered that raw material to become 'Spare Rabbit Parts'. Since then we have played sparse live shows, and recorded two more albums with a new one in the works. We have tried to maintain the spontaneous character of those earliest recordings while continuing to expand our sound explorations into new domains.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play locally, but are working on branching out in areas near Oklahoma. Contact us for booking. We are playing an all acoustic set on Dec. 18 at The Opolis in Norman, OK along with an excellent band Gray Field Recordings.

Anything else?
Email us if you are interested in supporting us by buying any of our CD-R releases (tracks from each are on this site). All albums are available for $7.00 a piece except that 'Spare Rabbit Parts' will take longer (we have to get more covers printed, which we probably won't do unless someone wants one) and we just finished Guardian of The Cattle, so covers are still waiting on it, but not for long.
