Gary Gray

I'm Gary Gray, a solo artist and producer. I have worked with so many folks in the past. I have been dealing with record companies since I was about 19. I've had many dissappointments and many happy times during my journey. My time now is spent recording and training my son Bryson and his group 336 boyz. Look out for him, he's only 14, but he's good. I expect to put out my best songs now that I have no pressure. I hope you'll enjoy them.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started off singing gosple music. My mother is a preacher, so I stayed in church. I played piano and sang every voice from tenor to soprano. When I was 13, my friends and I formed a gospel group. We performed about 8 churches a week. I was relegated to singing lead.We stayed together for about 2yrs, then the other guys ,whom were much older than I , left for college and other activites.I went back to performing with the choir.Later, I moved back to baltimore maryland to stay with my grandmother. I met with a couple of girls in church and we started an ensemble. Once again I found myself performing 7 and 8 churches a week, but this time I was performing songs that where original. The songs were written by myself and rita marrow. We had alot of success and were offered a recording contract with a local promoter. Then tragedy struck, my grandmother died holding my hand, this had a chilling affect on me and still does to this day. I was so devastated that I turned my back on the contract, my friends, and gospel music. I moved back to north carolina and devoted myself to song writing and poetry which I have been doing every since. I have a poem being published in the spring, in a book being released called "the silence from within". I am going to bring vision to the music industry not seen since john lennon and prince. This will be displayed in all of my new songs.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I have performed in many places and sold records in many places. Every moment has brought something special.
Your musical influences
Smooth, real life music that makes you feel.I'm like john lennon meets prince and marvin gaye. My sometimes r-kelly flow brings today. All my lyrics are real ,like a book of my life.
What equipment do you use?
My keyboard. If the song calls for a guitar or base or live drums I bring them in.
Anything else?
I have over 300 songs written and more music. Once my money equals my creativity you'll hear some great music.
