Band/artist history
Gary Dean Jennings is a singer-songwriter-guitarist who has been making music for over thirty years. He began playing violin at eight years old and got his first guitar on his tenth birthday. He began writing songs at fourteen and won a local talent show with an original song at sixteen. Shortly after that, he joined his first band as a bass player and singer in 1970. When the members graduated from high school, they went their separate ways and Gary entered the Navy. He was a member of the Blue Jacket Choir and almost as soon as he got to the ship where he was stationed, he became a member of the ship's band and eventually their leader. They were asked to play in a lot of the ports they visited including many in Australia and New Zealand. He also soon formed a band with one of his shipmates and some civilians in San Diego. When Gary was discharged from the Navy, he decided to stay in San Diego to pursue his musical dreams. He performed around San Diego as a solo artist, a member of a couple duets and in several bands throughout the 1980s. In 1989, he'd had enough of the city and moved to Palmdale, California. It was there that he put together his dream band, the Roadhouse Rockers, a blues-rock power trio featuring Gary on lead guitar and vocals. They established quite a following in the high desert of California and were soon the band to get for biker runs, parties and clubs all over the Southwest. Eventually, though, the raging wildfire that was the Roadhouse Rockers burned itself out after a couple of great years. Gary moved to northern California in 1991 and continued to play and write songs. In 1997, Gary moved back to the high desert and put together another power trio called Crossfire which became his last band. They broke up in 2000 when Gary decided to purchase a house in the desert and build his own recording studio. He recorded his first album called "Looking Back" and released it in 2001. He is now retired from live performance and is concentrating on songwriting and recording. His long-awaited second album is in the works.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I'm retired from live performance after over thirty years on the road and am focused on songwriting and recording in my own little home studio.
Your musical influences
Gary's roots are in classic rock and blues but he also writes sweet ballads.
What equipment do you use?
I love Line 6 and Roland equipment. Only the best for me.
