A little about George...
I started playing trumpet and piano at age eleven; I played in Junior High and High School the first five years and then quit school to play in night clubs. I have been in the music business for 26 years and studied under jazz legend and master trumpeter Maynard Furgeson. I front for the band on trumpet and vocals; and released my fifth CD in January of this year.
I have been lead singer for several funk bands over the years. In 1974, I was in a successful band for almost two years but the band dissolved due to poor management, five months later I joined the US Navy. Then returned from California and wet back to playing in the local night clubs right away. I enrolled in the Kansas City Community College; graduating with a major in music.
In 1987, I moved to Kansas City, Missouri and discover the place called Westport where I could play my music seven days a week. I stared with a blues band in 1988 and ended up traveling on the road for the following two and a half years. From 1991 until 1997, I played with a number of different bands and did quite a bit of recording. After a number of failed attempts at trying to make it happen with other musicians, I decided to go solo.
In 1999, with the advancement of technology I was able to put a CD together and go Hi-Tech. Thank God for the information age.
