Funky Junkie

My music is built on a foundation of live guitar and keyboard performance, blending deep crates of funk and jazz with modern electronic drive. I utilize Lo-Fi techniques to inject warmth and grit, creating tracks that are far from ambientthey are designed to move bodies and set the stage for powerful vocals.

Genre Focus & Production Style:
My production catalogue features versatile beats across these high-impact genres:
Funk & Funky House: Groovy, bass-heavy rhythms for high-energy tracks.
UK Garage & Drum and Bass: Sophisticated breaks and high-voltage energy.
Lo-Fi / Instrumental Hip-Hop: Soulful, analog-driven beats perfect for deep verses or compelling sync projects.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started out the way many producers do: obsessed with digging for records and collecting analog gear. My earliest years were spent studying Blues, Jazz, and Funk as a guitarist and keyboardist. But a huge part of my sonic DNA comes from the ravesI was deep in the scene as an Acid House raver. I got "here" by blending those two worlds: that deep, soulful instrumental knowledge with the raw, high-voltage energy of the UK club scene, particularly Garage and DnB. The Lo-Fi techniques I use are deliberately employed to put that warm, organic grit back into the mix.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes! My most memorable performance was my very first: playing the guitar live in front of a crowd at a club when I was just 12 years oldthat moment cemented my instrumental journey. Today, my favourite memories are also tied to the culture of the raves and warehouse parties, experiencing that electric energy while playing or mixing those high-voltage House, Jungle, and Garage tunes. Connecting with the audience and seeing them move to the raw funk and breaks is the whole reason I do this.
Your musical influences
My influences are split between the crates and the clubs. On the instrumental side, I draw heavily from the masters of Blues, Jazz, and Funkartists who defined the sound of the electric guitar and keys. You'll hear that depth of harmony and groove in my work.
On the electronic side, the energy comes from my time deep in the Acid House and early Rave scenes. I'm heavily influenced by House, Jungle, and UK pioneers in Garage, Drum and Bass, and Breakbeat. My goal is to smash those soulful, organic roots together with the high-voltage energy and sophisticated breaks of the UK dance sound.
What equipment do you use?
My sound is centered on live instruments. As a multi-instrumentalist, I build tracks primarily using guitar and keyboard performance. I blend these live, organic recordings with samples, and then employ mixing techniques to achieve that signature warm, analog saturation and grit. I focus on hardware and process, not software presets, to ensure every beat has an authentic, driving texture.
Anything else?
Just a massive thank you for checking out the music! I pour my historyfrom the Blues and Jazz sessions to the Acid House ravesinto every single beat.
