Band/artist history
Funktion began as a concept in 1996 by two young song writers, Devin B (Vocalist) and Mike Lopez (Guitarist) searched for a third member which they found in a talented musician and artist, Steve Vandemon (Bassist). By combining the musical as well as artistic ability of its members, the group was able to create a powerful new sound and stage persona that would take on the name of Funktion. The group combined electronic beats and acoustic rhythms with catchy melodies and simple hooks to create a sound that caught the ears of many people.

Funktion performed many years in O.C., I.E. and L.A. at most iconic venues and clubs multiple times.
Your musical influences
Inspired by the music of artists as varied as Led Zepplin, Prince, the Beatles, Public Enemy, TV Show Themes, Primus, Stone Temple Pilots, 70s Funk, Beastie boys, Red hot chili peppers, 70s Cartoon music, NWA, 311 and the rapid growth of hip Hop and Electronic music, the two original members wrote, recorded and performed music together for a decade.
