Band/artist history
dj Theory - bolstering Fund The Mentals' elemental practices to two forths of the quintissential cultural manifestation, thEARy is believed to be the offspring of tarantulas and tasmanian devils. When we go to record at his apartment we often find him face down in a milk crate, snoring like Sloth with a vinyl sleeve pasted to his grill piece by way of eye boogees and rubber cement. Theory prides himself on all forms of dj'ing (turntablism) in that he is constantly working on new sounds, be it through blends, scratch hybrids, or beats. Actually, come to think of it ... We haven't seen him in a few weeks but he has contacted us via carrier ferrets that he has been perfecting his new scratch ... The Diabolicalest Tearadactyl Chirp Nurple Tweeek Pogo Cock Wormhole Orbital Botch. I don't know if we're ready for that one. Dave Odd The heart and soul of Fund The Mentals. Tank treads leave a trail easy to follow as does his Royal Oddness. Dave’s minimalist style proves its effectiveness in scruples with the undressed message he blasts in verse as well as the on stage fortification of every hook and every punchline delivered from the verbals of all the other members’ verses. Dave maintains the level of energy that all bands, regardless of the genre, should hold themselves up to. A beat-boxing monolith, Dave’s stamina is unparalleled on the oral percussions as he is known for propelling 4th Street cyphers infinitely into the a.m. While the rappers lose breath and run out of concepts the cheek pinching snares, tongue clicks, zerbert hi-hats, and diaphragm dipped bass lines perpetually spew forth from the mouth of the Odd one. Infinitus Maximus The vernacular, vexed, verbose, vertigo that is Maximus adds the ugly ingredients to Fund The Mentals' musical cauldron that’d have Jeffery Dahmer slobbering and drooling like Pavlov’s dog. Quick to remind you that he is not just a battler, but definitely has the violent and aggressive steelo to get labeled that way, Make no mistake about Fund The Mental's leashless pitbull, Max concocts concepts on the regular in an attempt to strike the keys of his listeners’ vertebrae like Chick Corea on the xylophone. With the word sets of a Shakespeare sonnet, the Punchlines of a Don Rickles stand-up, and the off-kilter intonations of parkinsonian Pharaoh Monche, Maximus brings the raw that a lot of “progressive†or “conceptual†artists lack (that means you, you fuckin art fags). When Maximus came into his own (world) he came with a warning label that very clearly reads, “Not To Be Fucked Withâ€. A-War - A psychological kollage. 'A' interweaves honest thoughts of life around him with the multiple flows that have influenced him as a musician as well as the many styles he witnessed by being in the Bronx for the last few years, where he hooked up with the likes of Manifest, Lou Cypher (both fellow Fallen Angelz), iCON the Mic King, Robust, Posion Pen (Stronghold), Technique The Immortal, and Diabolic (Triple-Optics). A's flows vary to say the absolute least. Through compounded rhymes, vis-a-vis Perfecto, punchlines extended beyond the small intestine equatorial reaches, descriptive visual .. EYES that'd paint an ear to ear kool aid on Mr. Complex's mug, Learyesque lysergic impressionism, and the humility to make it worth more than your average 5 beans in the garbage wasted on yet another bladdo 12 inch. Dezin8ed Hitta - Hmmmmmm ... well ... this guy's pretty cool. I got his rookie card ... signed! He was actually really nice to meet. He bought me an Orange Crush and told me that his favorite movie was Finding Forrester. He's a big Aceyalone fan and said that hip-hop isn't fun anymore. I think so too.
