FRIENDLYS
The tour started once, while eating an average, elegant, everyday, so so feast of (portabellos), well, that's what we call'm. In the key of A, laid back in Floppy's chair, I somehow lost sight of the next three years. Now, you are here to witness the story, or the lie, of which either could be true.
Bob Harrell (September 2008)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We climbed up on stage at legendary local watering hole, Henry's Hideout (Plantersville, Texas),for what was supposed to be our checking out this kid who sang. Wes constantly whined about having to tackle vocal duties, so the initial idea was to find a competent vocalist so Wes would shut the hell up.
Somebody had told Bob that this kid had a great voice and had a good figure...Somehow, the ordeal turned into our auditioning for HIM. That lasted to the tune of a single song, which was a Pantera-esque rendition of Hank Jr.'s Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound.
We would later revisit our cynical approach to the Bocephus classic by including it on a three song single that also included Willie Nelson's Sad Songs and Waltzes, and a hybrid Bob Wills/ Ray Price stab at San Antonio Rose.
