Band/artist history
Band Bio
Friction Junkie is a new type of modern rock experience. The band mixes the hard-edged sound of today's music with a newfound twist of tomorrow. With grooving bass lines, biting guitar, smashing beats, and sexy, soulful vocals, Friction Junkie brings together a unique sound that drives people to move.
Friction Junkie is comprised of Casey Barto- vocals, Ryan North- guitars, Mike Potts- Bass, and Michael Theissein- percussion. Starting from the college scene in Norman, Oklahoma, the band has built a notorious reputation on their dynamic live show. With the presence and energy that is built at these shows, it was easy to build a loyal and inexhaustible fan base in which to perform to.
Friction Junkie is a regional act building on its ever-increasing popularity. The band's vision is to take their music to as many people possible, one show at time. A club owner's favorite, Friction Junkie's die-hard work ethic make them easy to book and a pleasure to work with. Performing live shows with no inhibitions and such abandon, Friction Junkie was sure to draw press attention. This is what people are saying.
"Friction Junkie is not trying to be the next big thing,
they're it! Easily the best live show I've seen in years."
David Harris - University of Oklahoma, Collage Radio DJ
"A fresh new sound the best modern rock music on the scene today."
Ty McMahan - Daily Oklahoman, Editor and Chief
"It is easy in today's vast music world to get caught up with inept garage bands and pathetic attempts at creativity. Friction Junkie, on the other hand, happens to be one of the most original bands that stays true to the essence of hip-gyrating, head banging rock I've seen in a long time."
Matt Allen - Founder and author of the music E-Zine Sticks and Strings
