Welcome to the Circle of...
Supa FRENDZ
Supa FRENDZ came together in late 2005 and sharea love for Atiim Chenzira's material. It's a new formulation of musicians who fuse hip hop, funk and R&B into the already alive music. Harry Ostriecher playz keyz for Thunderpussy, a fresh band led by Kristin Fairfield.Harry's playing feels like sitting in the sun and being in church at the same time. Scotty Rockem of the Funkanauts plucks his funk bass rythmes like nobodies business. This dude keeps the heav in the y. Special Guest/Member Oscar Ourcuyo also plays for Prophet Soul, a funky band that's got heat. He's a busy dude, but we'll get him and Scotty together for more showz. The two bass keys and strings makes everysong transform into a Clinton utopia of space age funk. Oscar get's down! Alex Eyngorn play the hell out of his funky azz guitar with unbelievable count and rythme. He's the bird of the family. He too travels the world in a professional manner, but when he's not saving a system from callapsing in China or Europe he's stringing Supa FRENDZ beats. Chris Lujan is a well rounded percussionist with a rock and hip hop drum history. Every ship needs and anchor and every boom needs a bap, and this cat is as solid as the core should be. Brutha Dave Berger iz the percussionist on Congos and anything you can hear bump bu bump. This brutha's been around playing with the best of the BAY. He now organizes and plays with/for Groovus. Groovus is the shit! Okay... now...Bekka Fink is a whole nutha' story. She is a goddess/priestess of the Mother Earth and a Witch of sound and vibrationz. Her voice was crafted to be heard and loudly. She is the leader of Bekkas Frogland Orchestra, a vocalist in Thunderpussy and now is a vocalist in Supa FRENDZ too. David Jones aka the Tunemaster is the visionary behind most of our tunez, he's also a gifted writer and singer. The Tunemaster
David Jonez has been the man behind the music for Atiim since 1996. The two formed Ridah Ridah Recordz & Publishing to promote Atiim's debut album "In Pursuit of Happiness" and his spoken word album "Life In Time", but have been writing and recording tunes in the meantime and in between time with other great musicians and with each other since they've partnered up. Now, well, Supa FRENDZ takes that vision to another level of playing. Other guests of our band include:
Divasonic... she plays flute like the sound of dolphins and sings beautifully and 'filled with love'.
Other popular trax like "Time iz $" and "Whose gonna be about it" were produced by Navarro... info coming soon. Supa FRENDZ collaborate on the live arrangement of the already produced music Atiim and the Tunemaster created and crafted.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?

Introducing!...Atiim Chenzira of FRENDZ
Driven by dreams of becoming a rapper, Atiim began to perform at the age of 14. But for Atiim, music was the main thing. Influenced by groups like De-La Soul, Atiim became drawn to the East Coast style of music and began to incorporate hip-hop into his style. Expanding his horizons Both musically and politically, Atiim began writing lyrics that Addressed important issues. Now known by his rap name "Boudji", Atiim had become quite comfortable performing on stage. He performed briefly with the group "The 4th Kind", then assembled with some family members to form "5N'Dime". Atiim's stage name changed once again as he became known as "Black Bomani", which means Black Warrior.
Inspired by the challenge of fusing East and West Coast sound styles, Atiim wrote lyrics, choruses and song concepts for the group. "5N'Dime" performed at showcases in Los Angeles and recorded at Skyline Studios and Pajama Studios in Oakland. However, the group just couldn't seem to release the record they dreamed of. Songs were recorded and re-recorded many times in the pursuit of the perfect demo. Being composed of family members would prove to be 5N'Dime's challenge, as they were riddled with conflict.
Atiim grew tired of waiting on a group consensus to get 5N'Dime's tracks released and decided to work concurrently on his solo career. In 1997 Atiim recorded numerous poetry/spoken word sessions and laid down hip-hop tracks with God-brother Kodabo aka Kobain (member of 5N-Dime) at Roof Top Studios in San Leandro, California. In the same year, Atiim began working with producer "D-Jones". Their chemistry was phenomenal and this new fire fueled the music.
By 2001 D-Jones and Atiim decided to produce and release their music Independently. The pair founded Ridah Ridah Records & Publishing and began work on Atiim's first album. Entitled "In Pursuit of Happiness", this musical debut displays the full range of Atiim's rapping, writing and lyrical skills. Mixed at Skyline Studios and Mastered at Pajama Studios in Oakland, "In Pursuit of Happiness" is a passionate work that's funky, fun and formidable. It was completed in May of 2003 but ran out of funding to go any further.
To say the least, Atiim suffered a divorce one month later and his father became ill with Cancer in August of that year too. In October he then decided to put his solo project on hold and move back to Berkeley, Ca. to take care of his father and deal with his divorce. In April of 2004 Atiimz father passed on, but he promised his father he would continue to pursue his happiness, music. During that year Atiim collaborated with David Jones, yet again, and a new producer named Navarro and began recording his sophmore album "Natural ElementZ" (available now). Ridah Ridah Records and Publishing (R3NP) collaborated with 5N'Dime to produce a group album with the debut title The Classic. It was realeased in February of 2005 and can be found at CDbaby. In the same year Atiim met Bekka Fink and was given an opportunity to join her band as a vocalist. Bekka invited him to collaborate with writing lyrics, expressing his spoken word and pushed him to express himself through yet another medium, song.
The turbulence in his life served to strengthen his commitment to music. Atiim iz now the lead guest singer for IZUM a Bay Area Funk/Jazz/Hip-Hop/Afro-Cuban band too. He's also founder of a collaborative community of artist A Thousand WordZ (www.AThousandWordZ.net). The Organizations mission and goal is the unification of the artist community for special causes like the Hurricane Relief, etc... And..."drum roll please..." He's starting his own band named FRENDZ. That's right... They'll be playing all of the livest music around. Stay tuned...It's just another step in what is certain to be a long and successful career for this gifted young artist.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We just started playing live. We did a show at the Oakland Opera house The Oakland Metro. Everyone loved us, so we started giggin' and now we're doing radio shows like KPFA live and we just did the sexiest party in the Bay Area... Carnaval. Things are looking good. We've done a few private parties and I'm booking for festivals.
