With the heart of a Kanye West, and the soul of Mos Def, D.Cap is one of the hottest up-and-coming artists from of North Carolina. Known by many as simply Cap, Duan has been writing songs, recording and performing in North Carolinas underground hip hop music scene for over ten years. He started out as an aspiring rapper. Through the years he has been in a rap duo, Madd Funk, and has numerous affiliations with noted local groups such as The Madd Mann, Dirty Water, M.E.H.B, Black Eye Entertainment, Neighborhood Watch, EClass Studios and Underground Source.
Unfortunately, due to derogatory images and stereotypes, hip hop music has been associated with negativity. Duan intends to change the face of the genre by bringing a more positive outlook with creativity and timeless songs as the forefront. Duan continues to not only bring us the fresh and colorful hip hop that we miss, but also innovative and educational music that is much needed in todays society. As we grow with him on each CD, we watch hip hop grow as a culture.
After numerous failed attempts to gain a record deal for himself, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Through studying, hard work and dedication, Duan has taught himself the art of professional digital studio production and engineering. Duan has assembled a team of computer science, mass communications, and marketing majors and established Free Enterprise
Entertainment, a grassroots production company based in Gastonia, North Carolina.
