Frankie Owls, the alter ego of Frank John Marino (b. 1981, New York), carries the weight of blues & soul from his Brooklyn beginnings to the world stage. As his mother recalls, at just 2 years old he was already singing full Stevie Wonder songs on a Big Bird vinyl player. After serving in the USMC, Frankie turned to the guitar, pouring grit, soul, and lived experience into every note authenticity that cant be faked.
Now based in Stuttgart, Germany, Frankie blends Delta & Chicago blues with soul, funk, jazz, & the timeless swing of crooners like Frank Sinatra. His influences range from Robert Johnson, B.B. King, Albert Collins, Ray Charles, & Curtis Mayfield. Getting ready to release his own solo album, he can also be found adding guitar magic to other artists projects, including AuréLies 2021 debut EP, AMOMANA. Anchored by his faith in Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior, Frankies music reflects both struggle & redemption, keeping the blues alive timeless, heartfelt, and evolving.

My love for music started young spinning Stevie Wonders Superstition on a yellow Big Bird record player. I could feel the soul before I even knew what it was.
Since then, Ive chased that feeling from porches to small clubs, blending raw blues emotion with European soul. Every note has to mean something every tone tells a story.Have you performed in front of an audience? From the roots to the modern era too many to count, but all part of my DNA.
Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Willie Johnson, Blind Blake, Son House the Delta masters.
Then the British blues legends Peter Green, Cream, Eric Clapton.
And later, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins, Ry Cooder, B.B. King, Albert King, plus the new generation Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, Marcus King, Derek Trucks, Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
Each one shaped my tone and spirit as a modern blues and soul guitarist in Germany. My main guitar is a Leo Guitars Dillinger Tele-style, handcrafted in Germany built for blues with bite.
I also play a Teisco for vintage tone and a Gretsch Penguin when I want that smooth soul texture.
My amps are simple warm tube tone, light grit, and nothing between me and the strings but air and emotion.
I believe in keeping it real no big pedalboards, no flash, just feel.Yeah every note counts.
I dont play to impress; I play to connect.
If even one person feels something honest in my music, thats everything.
Im here to keep the blues and soul guitar tradition alive in Germany and across Europe one note, one listener, one heartbeat at a time.
