Francisco Aguabella

Francisco Aguabella is a certified legend. He has made outstanding contributions to Latin popular music while maintaining his roots in traditional Afro-Cuban religious drumming.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Born in Matanzas, Cuba, Francisco Aguabella immigrated to the U.S. in 1957. "Franciso is one of the first eschelon of drummers who came to America and are responsible for all drummers that came after them", says Latin percussionist John Santos. As a master of the Bata (talking drum), Aguabella impressed many. He was hired early on by Dizzy Gillespie and during his career has played and recorded with Peggy Lee, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Malo, and Carlos Santana.
