Time of the signs Time of the signs
Thanks to Alexander Fox for playing guitar and Nicola Hutchison for lending her expert ear when I got too close to the mix to be able to see the wood for the trees.
There might be carpets There might be carpets
When I first played this prog rock instrumental to my partner she said "It feels like going on an adventure; there might be horses and flying carpets" and that's where the title comes from :-)
No Horizons / Collision Course No Horizons / Collision Course
A couple of feel-good songs to start the year. Many thanks to Steve Harcourt for the lead guitar parts.
Nine go adventuring again Nine go adventuring again
A song about blurring the boundary between fantasy and reality but also a song about nostalgia and loss.
Walk all over you Walk all over you
A song about someone who emigrates for a better life but finds that not everything is better. I've aimed for an 80's rock vibe with the mix on this one.
Time and again Time and again
This is a bit of a departure for me. As you will see, it is not quite my usual style but I had a lot of fun experimenting. Normal service will resume momentarily.
Politico Politico
A song about a politician that starts out with good intentions. Musically this is a bit of an experiment for me - a rock song without guitars. Let me know whether you think it worked :-)
It's gonna be alright It's gonna be alright
A song about the future and how bleak it looks right now but without being completely alarmist :-) Much Kudos to Steve Hall for the great guitar parts. Thanks Steve!
Fear Fear
This progressive rock song is about the atavistic fear that makes us afraid of noises in the dark. It features Martin O'Brien on acoustic guitar and Steve Hall on lead and rhythm guitars. This version is the March 2011 remix.
Inbetween times Inbetween times
Under Different Skies Under Different Skies
This straight-forward rock song was written back in about 1993 but is still one of my favourites. It's about loneliness and the need to make a change in your life. Steve Hall plays guitar on this one.
Hook me up Hook me up
A song about giving up on this world and going to live in a virtual one. Steve Hall plays rhythm guitar on this progressive rock song (remixed in Jan 2010).
Gulf stream children Gulf stream children
A progressive rock song about climate change. My friends Martin O'Brien (acoustic guitar) and Steve Hall (electric guitar) both feature on this song - the rest is performed by me. This song was almost completely re-recorded and mixed in May 2009.
Can you hear me? Can you hear me?
A song about evil in the world in many guises. Martin O'Brien plays some of the guitar parts on this straight-forward rock song.
