Foreign Presence

Foreign Presence fuses atmospheric, ambient and jazzy sounds with hard and complex rhythms to create Drum N Bass as well suited to home listening as it is to the dance floor.
Band/artist history
It all began in 1992 with an Amiga 500 and a funny looking program named MED. I dropped a few tracks for my friends who were just getting into this new music called "techno" (imagine how well it initially went over in rural Canada!) and soon we were all holding private parties with homegrown tracks. In 1995 I upgraded to an A1200 and got into the Jungle / Drum & Bass, some of which received college radio play. Around 1999 I switched to the PC and started using hardware/software while composing tunes. Mp3.com was really taking off by this time so the logical thing to do was release tracks for MP3 download. The rest, as they say, is history.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I don't play live at the moment. I may soon start DJ'ing. It wouldn't be strictly Drum N Bass but more atmospheric with strange sounds and the driving beat overtop.
Your musical influences
LTJ Bukem, Herbie Hancock, Future Sound of London, Jeff Mills, Public Enemy, DJ Randall's superb mixes.
What equipment do you use?
Waldorf Microwave XT, Renoise and a top secret collection of VSTi's ;)
Anything else?
foreignpresence@canada.com If you run a college radio show and would like some tracks on CD (both tracks on and off this site) be sure drop me a line.
