wow, well if he wasn't "stretching the truth a little" then he musta made a lil money off it, because it's a exactly the same as that song I mentioned last time. I will find out the name so you can research it further at your discretion :)

The main theme of Fuzzy Peach Skin is not a sample actually, it's a midi tune that I had on my hard drive from years and years ago. I believe my friend wrote it, or so he claimed.

I was referring to the main theme/melody line, I can't remember the name of the track tho - it was kinda an anthem here in the clubs if I remember correctly.
So, you got any plans to explore the playing of instruments? I wasn't kidding about your ear - that's the biggest hurdle right there (and you cleared that one convincingly). I totally hear you on the usage of "exotic" sounds! ;)

No links to India...just strange ideas and new sounds in mind. I like the foreign sound. And everything of mine is sampled...including Fuzzy Peach Skin. All except the cowbell line which I made myself...and which sample are you thinking you have heard before? Beat, melody?

Am on track 2 already - very cool assortment of sounds you got happening there - absolutely love the percussion. What are you using drum/percussion and instrument-wise? how much is sampled (if any - actually I'm now listening to fuzzy peach skin, thats a sample isn't it? can't remember where the original is from right now, but I'm sure I've heard it before)? etc etc all the usual questions :P
forgive me I am a sponge for knowledge ;)
you got any links to India at all? just asking because of some of the instruments I'm hearing in your stuff.

If Fire Ran
I'm reminded of Indian music with this song. It's very ethnic. There are parts where it is overly repetitive but the feel to it makes me think of dancing girls around a fire :).
Fuzzy Peach Skin
I think your first goal with this track is replace the trumpet synth with the real instrument. Don't know if you know someone who can do it or if you have good recording equipment but that would give it a very jazzy feel with that trumpet sound. The melody with it gets very repetitive I thought, then all of a sudden the noisiness starts to meld away a bit with this funky feel to it (sort of like that old Star Wars disco). I would bring that out a lot more and take out the background stuff that keeps clouding the harmony and melody. The noise factor is really high, a lot of noise with an overly repetitive melody. You could definately change that melody up and give it a fluid feel. Listen to a lot of music in the genre. By 3:00 I was pretty much done with track and the n
