Flyin Eye Project

The Flyin Eye Project was created by Chris Replogle in 1996. A professionl audio engineer, who after years of playing guitar and bass, decided to start his own group. All the music is created, recorded, and produced by Chris. Currently I'm looking for other talented musicians to add their playing to my songs. Its hard for me to only do one style, I love som many different kinds of music. That is also reflected in the music I make. Most of the songs sound different from each other, due to my exploration into new styles and hybrids. A lot of the music is played by myself on real instruments. The guitar is my main instrument, though you'll find that there is no guita in a lot of the songs. I also play bass and keyboards, and thanks to the amazing recording and editing software out these days, I can recorded myself on all of these instruments and create new sounds.
Band/artist history
Started out as a singer in a punk band caled Voice of America in 1981. Also got my first guitar back then. Was in another punk band called Childern of Death in 82. Voice of America went through several musical and line up changes and eventualy became Shades, for whom I became the audio engineer and back-up vocalist. Graduated from Sound Master audio engineering school in 89 I believe. Jammed with a lot of bands and started doing a lot of home studio work and some Pro work. Left LA and the music scene in 95 and moved to Bishop, Ca. where I currently reside. Shortly after that I created Flyin Eye Project.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I haven't played live in many years. The last time I played live, it was a guest appearence. I joined some friends on stage and did Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix. Personly I love to play live, when you can get into a groove with other musicians, it can be like magic.
Your musical influences
Thats soo tough. I love Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Zappa. But I'm also really into all kinds of Electronica now. Mostly ambient/chill/downtempo stuff. Ott is a major influence for making psy dub as well as being someone who has encouraged me more than he'll ever know. I also like Dub, DnB, breakbeat, psytrance, etc. And you'll find all of these influences in my songs.
What equipment do you use?
Ibanez Electric guitars, Fender bass, a couple Roland keyboard midi controllers, a Fender acoustic guitar and some Sure mics. I record mainly with Nuendo 2 with a SeaSound Soloist rack hooked into a P4 2.4ghz with 1gb of PC3200 running dualband @ 800mhz, 5 HD's a CD and DVD burner. I use a lot of VSTi's; Kontakt, Intakt, Absynth, Korg Legacy, Mini Moog, TC Electronic and Waves VST's, IK Multimeida Amplitubes, PSP Nitro, and lots of other VSTs and DX efx. I also use Steinberg's WaveLab 5 for a lot of waveform editing and mastering. Also IK's T-Racks for mastering mixdowns sometimes.
Anything else?
Music is my life. I'm currently employed aas a computer technician and consultant. I've built a couple recording computers for other people. I want to sell some music so I can get more gear and devote more time to making new music. Also very intrested in background music for film, games and commercials. So sign me and we'll all live happily ever after. ;)
