Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
FLAVIO APRO is recognized as an accomplished musician by his work as guitarist, teacher and researcher.
He studied with Henrique Pinto, Fabio Zanon, Jovane Oliveira and Monina Távora, a disciple of Segovia. He is graduated by Sao Paulo University, where he received instruction with Edelton Gloeden. He obtained First Prizes at several music competitions, and was chosen to perform in Japan at the Kyoto International Music Students Festival. He released his first CD, Praeludium, in 1997, a work acclaimed both by both critics and public. He performs regularly in the major concert halls and devotes himself to chamber music. Today, he is director of the Hermann Hauser Guitar Foundation South American subsidiary, a socio-cultural non-profit institution based in Munich.
Apro is considered a brilliant researcher in the field of performance, with many published books and articles in the foremost academic magazines, as well as his contributions to important congresses. His master’s degree dissertation about interpretation is already a landmark, which led him to lectures in important research institutes. He has also released the CD Flavio Apro interpreta Mignone as a result of his academic research. Today, he holds a doctorate in music from ECA-USP with the original research on the Spanish Folias.
His pedagogic work is widely respected, giving lessons and masterclasses at several music institutions. Nowadays, he is Director of Music Department at the Maringa University.
