First Time
Hailing from Northumberland, UK, First Time have developed rapidly in their short existence. With influences ranging from Billy Bragg, The Cure to Mest, AFI and MxPx, they play upbeat punk rock. They recently recorded with Iain Wetherell (Not Katies,Phinius Gage, Skirtbox)
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
First Time started out in March 2003, in Morpeth, Northumberland. Nick,
Chris, Rob and Jack started writing songs together, and recorded their first
CD that summer. They recorded a follow up in November 2003, and started
playing live shows in the same month. The band then took a break for a
couple months, while the brothers Chris and Jack left to explore California.
When the two returned in April of 2004, the band started work on their new
improved material. They played a lot of shows in Newcastle over the summer,
including a show at the 'Cavern' in Liverpool and at 'Joseph Wells' in
Leeds. The band decided the next step was to record with a well-known
producer. At the end of July they made the journey to Corby,
Northamptonshire, to record with Iain Wetherell (who had worked with my
friends in Poindexter and Not Katies, as well as bands like Route 215).
After four days of a lot of stress, they came out with 6 great sounding
songs, that make up their most recent CD.
Since the last CD, Jack made the decision to leave the band for University
in Norwich. He has since been replaced by our friend David Jenkins, who has
a little less hair than Jack, but is doing the job well!
