Fireproof
The world of hip-hop is made up of foundations represented
by stylistically regional hip-hop genres - East Coast,
West Coast, the Mid-West, and the Dirty South. Every
few years however, a hip-hop act emerges to interrupt the
shine of conventional hip-hop. This year Fireproof has
arrived to introduce the Michigan streets to the hip-hop
world.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The past few years have been full of contribution for the
quiet state of Michigan. Almost overnight, the Great Lakes state
has become an innovative ground for hip-hop culture.
While noteworthy talent such as Eminem, D12 and Slum Village
have proudly represented Michigan on the radio and in the Clubs;
Fireproof will bring the uncharted aspect of Michigan streets to
the forefront with their Debut album Rags II Riches.
The creation of Fireproof is the culmination of events that began
in early 2001. EMc (Elmore McCoy Jr.), and GS (Javin Love) were
born, raised and still reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan. EMc was
performing at a release party where GS attended. Shortly after GS
and EMc started working together. EMc and GS produced and
recorded their solo albums. The 2 then decided to become a group
and recorded a mix tape. They began to develop their craft and
recognize their potential to have an effect on the hip-hop world.
From that point on they were known as the Fireproof.
Listeners will find their body moving to the first single
'Shake", and
winding down to the second single 'II Night", and yet the third
single Street Talk will take you to the streets of
Grand Rapids, MI. This album brings so much diversity
that no matter the mood you will be lifted up.
Fireproof
is bringing Hip Hop to the next level. What they have is
a perspective you don't hear. It's a positive perspective.
It's lingo you don't hear, its Midwest lingo... like you've
never heard it. Michigan has never been exposed like this.
Look for
Fireproof to expose their fresh perspective with their
new Album Rags II Riches.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
