Fields of Gray
The band consists of just me as of yet. My old band called Bad Practice broke up in 2000, I am finally getting back into the swing of it. Check out my sites here and over at MySpace.com and Soundlift.com !
If you haven't checked these sites out yet.... Please do!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Had a band named Bad Practice... Our name fit too... we jammed for 2 years and then went our seperate ways... We are all still friends, only life (and age) caught up with us... I will be uploading a few originals from that Era as well... ones that I had hoped to develope with the band that are still fresh on my mind....
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Soon, still developing new music. Please let me know what you think, I know music is subjective, you either like or don't. Either way I would appreciate your opinions!
Your musical influences
Everything you can imagine! My favorite genre is Hard Hitting Heavy Metal/Industrial, unfortunately that is not what comes out of my creative expression though.. My style is more of an Acoustic Folk Rock, Melodic and soothing more about life experience than anything... Although, I am currently working on a project to really add an edge to my style, soon..... Hope you enjoy!
What equipment do you use?
I use Acid Pro 5 and Sound Forge 8 Pro, Cubase SX3, Cake Walk HS 2... I am only now learning Fruity Loops and have Version 5 .... all are on a PC based P4 2.5Ghz system with a gig of memory and a 80gig HD.. and all are addicting! I use a Behringer EuroRack UB2222FX-Pro 22 input mixer and a M Audio Delta Audiophile 24/96 sound card... not too bad.. I have to admit it is pretty clean sounding, even with effects added. I have an old Crown 150 stereo amp driving 2 Optimus Nova 10 (good old school) 3 way cabs (10 inch bass reflex sub, 10inch mid with 2 inch cone tweeters) for monitors. If I want to get really loud I throw a set of Fender Sun cabs (12inch Woofers with 4 inch folded horns) and two 185watt Altec Lansing amps into the mix as well.... assorted cables and mics, For my vocals I use a Sure SM58 mic. I have a 72 hotrodded Fender Super Reverb Combo with a single vintage 12inch Driver, a 1972 Mann Electric guitar (Ibanez) copy of a Les Paul Custom (my first guitar, have had it for 24 years and beefed it up over that time too!) and a low end Wish it was a hand made Takamine Acoustic Electric Dreadnaught... among other things.....
Anything else?
I have to say that Jason Reed, who is one of my best friends, has opened up my eyes to new areas of creativity. And through his thirst for knowledge (esp. guitar theory) osmosis has occured, because I am now at a level that I never thought I would or could attain... Thanks bro!
