Favorite Atomic Hero is a three piece pop/rock band from Boston, MA.

FAVORITE ATOMIC HERO, formerly known as STATIC, was formed in Boston in 1998. The band was forced to change its name to avoid possible legal action from an “unnamed” major label act that didn’t take very kindly to somebody borrowing part of its moniker. The new name (which is much better than the old name), was created during a rather involved drinking game which can best be described as a combination of Indian Poker, Tug-o-War and Boggle. To be brief, FAVORITE ATOMIC HERO believes in one idea above all others: Rock is good. Regardless of the current musical flavor of the month, the kids will always come back home to the sweet, welcoming sound of guitar-driven pop. Who can resist the siren song of an American-built guitar played through a Marshall stack turned up to eleven, a rhythm section that can only count to four and melodies that absolutely refuse to stop bouncing around inside your skull? It’s been scientifically argued that Rock, especially very loud Rock, is extremely nourishing and may be used as a substitute for the standard three squares a day. Rock is as wholesome, good and American as Mom, Baseball and Apple Pie. In fact, you would have to be a Communist not to like Rock and nobody likes a Commie.FAVORITE ATOMIC HERO was created by Mr. David Age. David sings and writes the songs and plays all six strings of his guitar. David spent some time playing guitar in Boston’s legendary punk outfit BASTARD SQUAD. He finally gave into the hankering to start his own band and began to steal players from other Boston groups. He stole Xavier Birkenhead, who plays at least two strings of his bass, from local math rockers GRANDIZER. From the chilling corpse of BASTARD SQUAD, he stole Scotty Montropolis, 3rd Circle High Master of the Les Paul. Finally, after several less worthy drummers, he had the extreme good fortune to acquire the powerful Johnny Hunt, formerly of emo group SIDEREAL. WHAM! A dangerous, new force in Boston rock had been created. This, shall we say ‘supergroup’, began to deliver its powerful combination of high-energy performance, ear-blistering volume and dangerously addictive songwriting to ever-increasing audiences in and around the Boston area. They have made an impressive ripple in the seemingly stagnant waters of the Boston music scene, winning new fans with every performance. Since its creation, FAVORITE ATOMIC HERO has managed to gain some local radio success through their hit single “California”. In an interview in INSTANT Magazine, the group was referred to as “one of the most promising bands in Boston’s recent history.” Brett Milano, of the BOSTON PHOENIX, after hearing the band on a recently released compilation, explained that “the best thing you can expect from a local compilation is that you’ll be blown away by a band you’d never heard of before.”With their brilliant combination of intense and irresistible songwriting, explosive performances and enormously positive critical acclaim, the future of this group is without doubt: FAVORITE ATOMIC HERO is poised for complete world domination.
