FAULTLINE BAND

Established 2005, Faultline has just recently got done recording their 5 song demo. Each member of Faultline contributes his own style of music to this project, which makes their style unique. Faultline is a definite breath of fresh air to a midwestern scene of cookie-cutter stereotypical bands that do nothing to break out of their own genre.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Bio of FAULTLINE BAND Born on a rainy afternoon on July 9th, 2005, Faultline is made up of two brothers, a neighbor, and a new friend. The band's origins came from the music writing by singer/songwriter Daniel Sexton. Daniel's musical background, at one time, was firmly rooted in pure country music. Since becoming a songwriter himself, Daniel has developed a passion for other folk singer/songwriters, and has written many songs in that style--ranging from a classic southern rock sound reminiscent of Bob Seger to the newer songwriting styles of John Mayer all the while still allowing little flashes of his country roots to infiltrate his catchy, heartfelt songs. The next member of the Faultline line up to join up with Daniel was his little brother Josh--and I use the word "little" in the loosest interpretation possible. Josh's musical background may be the most diverse of the group with it ranging from Old School Rap, to Country, to 90s Alternative, to the more recent folk-ish singer/songwriter style. Josh, a man of many instruments, has decided upon being the bassist of Faultline...even though he could easily carry his weight as a lead guitarist should the need arise. Josh had been in bands with Daniel for years already beginning with their days in the Southern Rock/Country band Steelhorse. After deciding Faultline should be more than just a studio project, Daniel and Josh looked a Derek Pearson to add a new dimension to the group. They didn't have to look far. Derek, both a former neighbor and a cousin-of-a-cousin to the Sexton brothers, was already familiar with and a fan of their work. Derek's musical background included being both a founding and current member of the Cape Girardeau cover band CLOSURE which had played over a hundred shows in the area as one of the region's most popular cover bands. Derek's musical aspirations were born out of growing up in the early nineties. His guitar playing adds a slightly heavier dimension to the catchy folk songs while consistently maintaining a pop sensibility that allows each song to translate to fans of all ages and from all different backgrounds. After Derek decided upon joining up with Faultline, he decided also to bring his drummer from CLOSURE in tow to complete the group. Enter Ben Sample. Hailing from the infamous Scott City, Ben jumped headfirst into the Faultline ranks. With Ben's musical background ranging all over the musical spectrum from classic grunge rock to today's modern alternative sound, he completes the eclectic group's one-of-a-kind sound. A hard-hitting drummer with hard rock flowing through his veins, Ben adds a lot of intensity to Daniel's brilliantly written pop songs. With as diverse of a group that one will ever find, Faultline is a definite breath of fresh air to a midwestern scene of cookie-cutter stereotypical bands that do nothing to break out of their own genre. www.myspace.com/faultlineband
