Famous Patrick

The band is all me, Famous Patrick, with occassional help from my wife on bass and keys, or an assortment of friends, all of whom are more talented than myself.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
When I have time, I will try to put this in.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Played live from the mid 60's until about 1995. Now I just play in my living room or for friends. I've played all over the northern Midwest, from the Mississippi to the Rockies, and down in Florida for about 7 years. For three years of that time, I was playing music, only, playing mostly Holiday Inn lounges in a two piece with my wife. My favorite place to play was Cody, Wyoming and Sebastian, Florida.
Your musical influences
Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Waits, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter, Paul & Mary, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, Hank Williams, The Eagles, Elton John, Lyle Lovett, and others
What equipment do you use?
Gibson electric guitars, Martin and Taylor acoustics, Martin acoustic bass, Fender and Peavey electric basses, Yamaha keyboard, Edirol midi controller keyboard, Rode NT1a, MXL 990/991, Oktava MK 319 and MC 012, SM 57 and SM 58, CAD M179, Toneport UX2, Behringer mixer, Art tube preamps, Tranzport, Sonar 7 Producer, Izotope Ozone, M-Audio BX5a monitors, Ultrasone 650 headphones, ModTrap sound treatment, one wing and one prayer; all of this cost one arm, one leg and my immortal soul.
Anything else?
Support from friends and other musicians is important, as well as encouragement in the form of magazines and podcasts. I especially like listening to the Home Made Hit Show, The Project Studio Network, and the Musician's Cooler. I also listen to fiction writing podcasts, because I think a lot of the same techniques apply. My favorite at the moment is "I Should Be Writing," with Mighty Mur Lafferty.
