The rock music of False Pretenses combines four young and creative forces from the shore area in Ocean County, New Jersey. The founding members of this, the latest of the new "non-screaming" bands, began their groove in high school when life-long friends, lead singer/guitarist John DiNicola and bassist Rick Schwartz met their drummer Dan Fumosa.
Despite their age, the band wasted no time getting their music heard. Making use of their surroundings, False Pretenses began playing shows as a trio around the Jersey Shore in early 2002. In late 2003, they decided to "beef-up" their live sound and went on a quest for a lead guitarist. After months of searching on the internet, they came across an ad that they were interested in and invited lead guitarist Chris Colon, also from Ocean County, to their show at Cool Beans coffee house in Toms River. They clicked instantly, and after knowing each other for just few hours, they brought Chris up on stage to join them for a few numbers.
With Best Intentions, is the band's first LP with the current lineup. Recently released in June 2004, it has been finding new fans throughout the U.S. and around the world through sales from their concerts and through this website.
These young musicians are already seasoned in such famous venues as Asbury Park's Stone Pony and Krome's (the former Club Bene), and they are now beginning their Summer 2004 Mid-Atlantic tour, with scheduled performances in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta and Orlando. More dates are to be announced soon.

Hey. . .I got your CD almost three summers ago when I went to go visit my friend in Toms River. Ha I think I talked to the drummer, well I just wanted to say that I love your CD and I'm not into the type of music you guys play, but it's great to listen to when I'm trying to mellow out or to wake up to. Well I don't even know if you guys are still together but, if you are good luck in what ever you do, and if you aren't good luck too. Laurie <3
