Falik
Falik is a world fusion dance band. That is to say, we take our influences from the world around us and make dance music; everything from simple slow grooves to dance rock to house tracks. Belly dance to bar dancing. Our latest batch of material focuses on M.E. influences and specifically, the Irish bouzouki.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been making music for a very long time - composing, performing, etc. - in a lot of different bands, but one thing always remained constant; I always considered my best work to be songs you can dance to. You know, the old "American Bandstand" test. Well, I finally decided to put my mantra where my mouth was, and thus "Falik" was born.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We rarely perform live due to the nature of the material; it's predominently studio-based. However, every once in a while I'll take the bouzouki out and play at a local Renaissance Faire.
Your musical influences
Any band with a good drummer or cool beats because I'm a long-time bass player. I love groups into rhythms.
What equipment do you use?
Sonar XL.
Anything else?
I'll be performing with Jeremiah Soto and "Solace" in the next few months. Looking forward to that!
