Eye Awakening

Founded in 2009 by Nathaniel Hope, Eye Awakening is a musical project rooted in Vacaville, CA. It began as a personal outlet for Nathaniel's creative expression, utilizing his acoustic guitar, microphone, and PC to channel his thoughts and emotions.

Eye Awakening is more than just music; it is a living journal that documents Nathaniel's artistic journey. Each album reflects his evolving sound and the changing landscapes of his life. The project started with a focus on vocal-driven tracks, but as time passed, Nathaniel naturally gravitated towards instrumental compositions. This shift allowed the music to become more open to interpretation, resonating deeply with his artistic vision and the listeners' imagination.

Nathaniel Hope began his musical journey in 2000, creating electronic compositions under the name BlueNile101. With just a computer and a variety of beats and sounds, this hobby was a fun way to pass the time, producing upbeat and lively tracks. However, as his life evolved, so did his musical tastes.

In 2005, Nathaniel purchased his first guitar, a Taylor Big Baby. The instruments unique sound and feel resonated deeply with him, marking the start of his exploration into acoustic music. Teaching himself to play, Nathaniel discovered the profound expressive possibilities of the guitar, entering a new and transformative phase of his life.

By late 2008, faced with uncertainty and emotional turmoil, Nathaniel turned to music as a deeper, more personal outlet. In early 2009, with the encouragement of friends, he recorded his first song, "A Place For You and Me." This was a pivotal moment where he combined his own lyrics and music, and for the first time, found the courage to sing. Confronting his fears, Nathaniel stepped out of his comfort zone and discovered the therapeutic power of music.

This experience was life-changing, leading him to write and record songs that reflected his emotions and the world around him. Music became a tool for self-expression, allowing him to process and move past his feelings. Each album he created became a chapter in his musical journal, documenting his growth and evolution. While his early work featured vocal tracks, he gradually transitioned into instrumental music, embracing the freedom it offered for interpretation. Nathaniel's music continues to evolve, capturing the essence of his journey and resonating with listeners on a deeper level.

Nathaniel listens to a variety of music. From full orchestras, to hard rock/metal, to 8-bit chiptunes. Variety is the spice of life. When it comes to the sound I create in my music, there have been many influences taken from bands/artists like The Album Leaf, VAST, ASHES dIVIDE/Billy Howerdel, Betamaxx, The Midnight, Takeharu Ishimoto, Akira Yamaoka, and more.
