Nova, a beatmaker/producer from a small town in Illinois. Started as an emcee, got into making beats. No one could make what I was hearing in my head, so I started making the beats myself.Band/artist history
My first lessons were courtesy of a brother named King Swift outta Chicago, on a Roland 606 drum machine. Then, a Navy buddy, DJ KMX, showed me the Boss DR550. I kinda took off after that. The learning curve of all the different machines was difficult, other than that, smooth sailing. It's been a lot of years, so the music does change over time. I try to keep it fresh and classic at the same time.Have you performed in front of an audience?I've performed live, still do, actually. My fondest memories of rocking any crowd would be the sports bar on the Navy base in San Diego. Word. It's been plenty others, but those open mic nights were special.
Your musical influences
Heroes for me would be DJ Premier, RZA, Diamond D, Dr. Dre, DJ Pooh, 45 King, Marley Marl, Pete Rock, DJ Icey D (from my land). It's a bunch. I only named some of the hip hop onesWhat equipment do you use?
Now? The latest version of FL Studio. Then? MPC2000. Also, a Pioneer dj controller, and all types of other pieces to make it all mesh.Anything else?
Rock out with me. Nova
