Expecting Rain
Expecting Rain is a folk music project from Cleveland, Ohio consisting of songwriters Nick Tolar and Tony Vorell. We have a bunch of other people help out on our records, too. We like writing songs and think that folk music is the best format for writers to express themselves. take care of yourselves.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Nick and Tony met attending classes at Cleveland State University. We were writing songs by ourselve for a while, and decided to team up. Then a bunch of people hopped on board. not very dramatic.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We do, we love it, and we'll be doing it more in the future. Our sound has many levels, some of which are best in the studio, some are best live. But playing out is essential
Your musical influences
Gee, classic pop and rock. Beatles, Pink Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel, Zombies. Classic folk, Dylan, Guthrie, Phil Ochs. Tony is still a punk rocker, so Bad Religion, The Clash are in there. The current 'indie rock' scene showed them how these influences can be distilled in modern culture. Bright Eyes, Elliott Smith, Hayden, Neutral Milk Hotel
