Band/artist history
ENOLA rose like a phoenix from the ashes of three different bands. Bianca (vocals) met Joe (guitars) and Greg (bass) for the first time in June of 2002 at a show that their band, Absynth, played. However, nothing came of it until December, when after months of flyering and fruitless searching for a new singer, Joe put up a flyer at the Guitar Center where Bianca worked. She had been searching unsuccessfully for a new band since June of 2002 after her metal band, BT3, broke up, and she was thoroughly sick of looking. The flyer hung there for a week and Bianca almost didnt call the number, but something about it stuck in her mind until she finally decided to call. Joe and Biancas first jam was at his house in early December 2002, and both were excited from the very beginning about the sounds potential and the chemistry that emerged. Joe already knew that the other members of Absynth were vehement about not wanting a female singer, but he thought that Biancas voice was original and beautiful, too good to let go of, and so it was just the two of them for many months. They wrote songs on acoustic guitar and played several well-received open mics with just acoustic guitar and vocals. It was around this time that the name Enola (alone spelled backwards) was decided upon. During this period Joe and Bianca auditioned many different musicians in the hopes of forming a full band, but for various reasons no one worked out. Frustrated, yet eager to play out, they started booking and playing small shows by themselves that brought a good turnout. Greg played bass for them off and on but never seriously played with Enola until they found Francisco (drums). Francisco had been looking for a band for months as well after the breakup of his old band, Synapse, but hadnt found anything where he felt he could add his own spin to the music instead of just playing what he was told. The first audition, in November 2003, consisted of Joe, Bianca, and Francisco- after which Joe and Bianca agreed that Francisco was their ideal drummer, and got Greg to play with them at a second audition. For about a month after that Enola didnt hear from Francisco and they figured that he wasnt interested, until he called up and said hed like to play with them. Today, in addition to playing in Enola, Francisco has a new lineup for his band Synapse, Joe and Greg have a new singer for Absynth, and Bianca sings Soprano 1 in Anna Crusis Womens Choir, the oldest and most prestigious womens choir in the country.
